Procedural issue with the test? Something not done in the correct sequence, maybe?

Re: 105mm L118 Light gun
"Russia seems to be producing large numbers of tanks & APCs after leaving them to rust in a field for 50 years. Ukraine also just dug 10,000 maxims out of a warehouse somewhere to convert into anti-UAV systems" Are you sure English is your first language? That's not a meme, it's simpl...

Re: 105mm L118 Light gun
Not sure you're quite aware of the difference between geological storage and active mining sites. I don't think you are either. Both the ones I suggested were taken from a list of inactive salt mines (and Billingham was put up for sale not so long ago) And, of course, active mines also have inactiv...

Clearly you're not aware of what a meme is, you're just a parrot. LOL - so you can't find a single meme that I've posted, can you? Care to note who I was parrotting? I won't hold my breath - you're clearly in the grip of some weird breakdown. Let's see if I can post a meme - I've never done it on t...

you've been called out on dripping memes with no basis in fact. That's what triggered you? OK, what "memes" have I been "dripping" on here? This will be interesting, since I've never posted a meme on here. Maybe you meant Twitter? Not a tankie Oh, so you're a vatnik? Winsford, a...

Re: 105mm L118 Light gun
Russia has neither taken AFV out of fields or taken 10,000 maxims out of a forgotten warehouse. Thanks for demonstrating that you didn't even read what I said before deciding to be a complete arse. I think you also demonstrated that you have no idea what has been going on in Ukraine. Russia has bee...

Re: 105mm L118 Light gun
For the ammunition side, then any L118 specific manufacturing equipment should also be stored if/when the plant is decommissioned. it's not a stick it in a shed job. Russia seems to be producing large numbers of tanks & APCs after leaving them to rust in a field for 50 years. Ukraine also just d...

Well, hopefully someone will remember the scramble for any useable weapons for Ukraine & decides to put the replaced L118s into storage, rather than scrap them. You never know when they might be needed again

Is it me, or are some contributor's once immaculate English skills suddenly deteriorating? Perhaps some have partaken of too much, or perhaps the second shift has just logged on.

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
I'll be surprised if they all go out of service by then. Hopefully the MOD/ Treasury have learned their lesson & they start building warehouse to hold much of this equipment as a wartime reserve, because we clearly can't ramp up production as fast as we did in the 1930s Edit: Just noticed - look...

No - and likewise it wouldn't be better if only people who HAD served/worked for the MoD were on here.

Re: Archer Class Patrol & Training Vessel (PBR) (RN)
Agreed that the P2000 replacement don't need to be a single class. The 15m Officer Training variant of the SEA class would be a good replacement for the University boats, though the larger units may need more than one boat. The 18m might be even better Should we actually need to rapidly develop a cl...

Re: Type 32 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
I think the reason for the T32 class is pretty simple. The RN did not want to commit to a T31 B2 there and then (i.e. hand the contract to Babcock), so give itself a little wiggle room by calling it something different (for now)

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
That's the $64,000 question, isn't it. Movement should be considerably less on a vessel of that size.
Would a heave compensated crane improve matters? Or would it be ineffective/ too costly?

I believe that the CAMM control system shares about 70% of the PAAMS code. Presumably the core code is the same, with the differences being in the interface/ control for the different missiles

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Just a thought. I know it's extremely difficult (dangerous even) to reload a VLS at sea, due to ship movement - would the same issue occur with an inherantly more stable platform like a carrier?

And roof repairs. You wouldn't believe how many buildings in the defence estate leak. The failure to address basic stuff like that is a powerful demotivator. No-one looks forward to going to work simply because the office doesn't leak. Lots of people think "Oh God, another day in that leaky cr...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-68018660 This problem has been known about for some time. An 8x8? Would that improve load sufficiently to make LIMAWS (Gun & Rocket) a practical reality (I understand that the weight was pretty much on the chassis limit for the original proposal)?

Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]
The path of least resistance would likely be to speed up the installation of NSM on T23 & T45 & increase the number installed on each ship if physically possible. Basically, "more of what we are already doing and faster". Installation seems pretty quick compared to other options as...
