Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
So, with sea trials approaching rapidly, who is planning to try and get there for her going under the bridges? CJ (if he is still around but not posting) I would assume. Anyone else? If I can get sufficient notice of the actual date I'm hoping to time my leave to coincide and make the trip back to ...

So sad to hear the news about Mike. His posts were always amongst the ones I looked out for most.
My condolences to his family and of course fair winds and godspeed to Mike.

PoW Assembly Diagram Update!
Sponson SP09 lifted and fitted to PoW's starboard-aft
SKB, looking at the video and freezing the last shot it looks like the lower part of SP07 might be fitted (see the scoffold and shrouding)

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I thought the tug was lifted in front of QE once the dock was flooded? That's a simple thing to do as the ship could be pulled aft a bit to provide space at the bow. (Yup, just checked on the photos and the dock was flooded and the gate open.) There is considerable weight in LB04, so will be an int...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Well, it looks to me as if something unplanned has happened. Why else would they put a forklift and the skeg on one end? I'd guess to balance the block. And the timing of the docking seems a bit later than planned. Ideally you'd want full daylight for this tricky maneuver. Not dusk. SKB, looking at...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Same skid plan as QE? Forward superblock section of PoW to skid backwards to meet PoW LB04? I'm doubting that. The entire fwd half of the ship is joined together now (unlike QE was), so skidding LB04 forward to join up with that will also allow room down aft for the prop shafts, etc, etc. Hi, looki...
