Singapore to acquire up to 12 F35b for $2.75b dollars https://www.dsca.mil/major-arms-sales/singapore-f-35b-short-take-and-vertical-landing-stovl-aircraft My phone did not like that link. Refused to open it because of security issues. It is a Huawei phone mind you, maybe the idea of F35s in Singapo...

This is why getting the 8 HM.1 restored to flight status and HM.2 standard should be the first priority for the RN if they ever get any additional money for kit. Pretty sure you've had that mate. I think one of the 4 was donated to the Moriva aviation meseum in Kinloss recently as an outdoor display.

Flicking through Sky this morning & came across an Episode of Mighty Ships (S4 ep2) it's all about the USNS Robert E Perry (T-AKE 5)
Looks really odd watching the US forces use a Puma for vertrep.

Perhaps buying the P-1 may have been a smarter move than P-8.... I've a couple of mates who are either current or ex RAF "kipper fleet" One lad is currently serving with the P8s & says it was the only deal in town, the assistance from the USN made it the only option. The other lad who...

I would love that. I very much struggle to believe, but i'd love that. Lad that I go mountain biking with is just back from a 16 week deployment in Florida with the P8s. He's said before that there's expectation of another 3 being bought, the RAF apparently have the serial numbers allocated already...

Weird looking ship, looks really top heavy, even more so that an T45. Obviously wont be, the designers will have thought all that out. Be interesting to see how it does.

I was, thinking that a carrier group deploying with 1 or 2 HAPS equipped with an EO or radar package would be a good match. Never thought about assigning one to a frigate

Surely conformal tanks make more sense than 2 small tanks on the wings. Something like a Growler should be a no brainer for the RAF.

What ever happened to the Warthogs we bought. Are they in decent storage or dumped somewhere to rot? Would they not make a good chassis to carry Exactor?

Can't see why not. One of the original designs for the QNLZ carriers was a good bit longer if I remember. Was a section not removed on cost grounds?

Not sure about using Absaloms to replace the LPDs but it's certainly a ship class that would work say to replace the Bays when they are used as mine warfare command ship in the gulf or for anti drug warfare/pirate operations.
They are a ship with plenty of uses.

As an aside, someone above said leave the Mountain warfare to the countries with actual Mountains (the French, Italians)
Surely with the Gurkhas we have troops from what must be the highest & most unforgiving mountains in the world.
