Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

For what its worth I'd say a cruiser is a large ship that can fire loads of missiles (not very technical granted). Usually part of a task group, giving it AAW cover as well.

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)

Wouldn't the logical option be for Germany to go for a Typhoon plus/ Typhoon E/ Typhoon Advanced (insert name of choice that that sounds modern) with conformal tanks / higher stealth etc which could not only get export orders but make them have the only final assembly line in operation?

Re: The Elephant in the Room

So to cut numbers in RM/RAF is "stupid" when they are up to strength and the Army can not recruit sufficient to fill posts then. Well I wonder what they will do then!

Re: The Elephant in the Room

Not sure if this is correct place but can someone advise me on the relative strengths ( ie how under strength / up to full compliment) of each regiment / unit or point me in the direction of that information? The reason for asking is with the talk of cuts in manpower, if for example RM's are at full...

Re: Ocean Class Helicopter Carrier (LPH) (RN)

Question. If I understand correctly the reason for the high crew size on the Albion's is the command and control for the RMs? If that is not used (ie not required for disaster relief / picking up refugees etc or if both in use so c and c is only done by the other) , what crew size is required. Would...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

What about T26 plus an SSK? Is that better or worse than 2 x T26? I assume it will be less crew than 2 x T26? Would it cost more (assuming you had to keep extra "riverey" type ships for patrol etc)? Would the SSK have problems keeping up with carriers? Just a thought, welcome the idea bein...
