Re: MBDA (UK)
Seen this below that tweet. "Mbda’s maritime launch system for sea ceptor is shorter than that for camm er, so installing them on types 26/31/32 will impact on what is currently below the launcher" If they are resuing bits and bobs from the type 23 for the 31's camm er might not be possib...

I think we are going to get plenty of good pics from CSG21 Here's another decent set (see entire thread)...with bonus submarine (not an Astute though..) USS Mount Whitney leading the line next to QE. Sub is NRP Tridente from the Portuguese Navy (Type 214 sub). The CSG is the two lines on the right....

Thinking of our late friend desertswo who would have been 65 today. I’m sure he would have enjoyed seeing and discussing the recent happenings with the carriers. He would have loved this. He was a massive loss to a lot of communities. I though smoking was going to be banned from all RN warships? Th...

Very unlikely. Why bother going to the effort of prepping and testing the munitions in the UK, having the personnel and equipment to load them here, then not bothering and leaving it to more ad hoc and costly arrangements elsewhere.andrew98 wrote:Any chance they could fit them in Bahrain on the way out?

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Don't forget the RN has 11 sets of 2087. 3 additional sets have been purchased for the first 3 T26. Otherwise they'd have had to cannibalise the 8 x T23 ASW's whilst they were still in service. Sometime the jumps, from clicking on a notification are random. And ended up with this old one. - when th...

Re: Future Solid Support Ship
What is interesting is that the commitment to three FSSS must be linked to the commitment to have two CVF deployed. That is surely linked to the to the need to go beyond 48 F35B (which would allow 24 normally on the single deployed CVF) to 60-80 which would allow two CVFs with 24 each? Don't forget...

And a pretty good (and accurate) shot at naming them. USS The Sullivans appears to be the ship in the middle.

HMS Queen Elizabeth and USS Iwo Jima groups meet up...thats quite a group of ships...you could retake the Falklands with that...think the 2 SES off the QE and Iwo Jima are LCAC (I did post originally that I thought they were Norwegian Skjold Class but think I was wrong). Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
The best thing would be to build a 5 ship B3 River class - effectively a B2 with a multipurpose Wildcat / UAV hanger which can act as a mission bay instead. This would allow three of the B2s take over from the B1s, and give the RN a core MHPC design. £800mn max. Thats the BAE Avenger design... Do n...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
ASW, why fit S2087, surely that's best left to the T26 with its quiet and expensive HED propulsion system, T31/T32 diesels/gears are not silenced with rafts and enclosures, quiet hull not necessary for its primary AAW mission, if you do that will drive up costs, fit a HMS as with the T45 or a less ...

Again it is the navies job to stop that and push for more B's I think 60 is the magic number as this allows for max effort of say 25 jets per carrier with this being said if the RAF wanted A's then an order for 40 A's could be made after the 60 B's have been confirmed but which make an order for 10...

For example would the US of been ok overtly in a falklands situation or would the uk if they used a QEC in a Grenada type situation Easy answer to that. If the RN have been sitting on photos of the two carriers together at sea then they are now stuck with the problem that releasing them will be seen as baguette waving at this critical time for Anglo/French relations. My stick is bigger than yours and I have two! Also, if true, didn't this happen be...
