Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
892 NAS would be fitting as they already have lightning in the crest and nice motto. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTbH0TQH-jlT6xCrPz6eDll_8ow3tJUq9QOOI7BYbdY8-wSuJJNWe7Nm6aWR0NRdg86kFQ&usqp=CAU I would still prefer for the next one, if there to be one, 800 or 801 NAS. Bu...

Re: Boeing P-8A Poseidon (MRA Mk.1) (RAF)
Wow actually a sound and sensible decision! Truth is it never made any sense to use Mk.54. It seriously underperforms compared to Stingray Mod 1, and torpedo's are massively expensive....we've got literally hundreds of Stingray in stock already...with T26 not getting MTLS we've got huge numbers of ...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
I think it's time to start looking at the delivery times of F-35 vs tempest. Tempest with deliveries starting 2035, how quickly will our F-35B Batch 2 order arrive? Is the +27 jets worth it? Used as delay overlap? Batch 3? Larger Batch 2? All important questions. I don't put this against tempest, j...

Is that Saab's way if saying UK mod should have chosen Saab instead of Boeing, 😂 Think they're well aware that that ship has sailed, as has NATO's fleet replacement. But...there is the potential of a couple of sales for the Scandinavia/Baltic region as a joint fleet..Poland will inevitably get Glob...

*[action]* zoom in on the different VLS *[/end.action]* It's 3 x standalone ExLS, for 9 cells total. With quadpacking that will be 36 missiles. With 5 Visby Class, test missiles and small number of reloads/spares its likely the Swedish Navy's order will be for at least 250 missiles. With more to co...

Looks like CAMM for Sweden....on the Visby Class... Ther...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
I doubt the line will close anytime soon. Deliveries to Qatar have only just started. Plus 38 for Germany and 20 for Spain. The RAF could use a small tranche 4 buy to keep things ticking over, money allowing The final assembly will after Qatar. But the operation delivering components will continue,...

Sweden has a long reputation for selling weapons to anyone with a big enough wallet. And Sweden too might become a new Germany, if they have a veto right about Tempest... Sweden are not in Tempest/GCAP. In fact their membership in the wider FCAS technology programme is pretty much on hold at present.

Re: Apache Attack Helicopter (British Army Air Corps)
We also need to take into account that Brimstone will be used by land vehicles in the overwatch role so the extra 2500 to 3000 could have been dished out to the brigades 500 each Correct. The order would have needed an extra production line set up as well. MBDA already have the capability to produc...

Re: Apache Attack Helicopter (British Army Air Corps)
Absolute insanity. This decision is so wrongheaded it requires urgent explanation as to why the Industrial strategy for UKPLC was circumvented in this way. If there is a plausible explanation why not share it with the taxpayers? They will claim risks around integration, particularly now the whole '...

Thats the thing...I wouldn't be surprised if it had some moving target capability with its dual seeker...and data link.wargame_insomniac wrote: ↑19 Oct 2023, 19:01 I guess Land Attack Cruise Missiles are simpler in that their target does nt move!!
Be interesting to see how this now 3-way development of the two missiles works out.

Re: Future cruise/anti-ship missiles
Interesting snippet in post 2 from the Italians. Land attack FCASW is expected in 2028. The anti-ship variant is not expected until 2034. How this plays out is anyones guess...Land Attack must mean the subsonic, stealthy version. But what do they mean by anti-ship? Do they mean purely the supersonic...
