Imagine how small a SHAR would look on that deck... A pilot would spend half the day trying to remember were he/she had parked

Will be interesting to see what the Marines think about it all, I know they've brought their Harriers over in the past, but the bigger aircraft + ski jump + SRVL...

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)

Good old Auntie, their Web homepage has headline "US military fighter jet 'worth £100m' crashes".

Not, "jet crashes, pilot safe",

Re: TSR-2 (Cancelled Project)

Whilst the investment of funds was huge for the TSR-2, it was way ahead of anything else either in service or in development at the time. IF we had been more positive in the management of the programme without the mixed signals form Government it could have been a major success, both for the RAF an...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC

I think that is being a bit unfair on the Army. Yes their plans are confused but they are being asked to de more than at any other time with far less resources, funding is not secured to any extent to allow old and obsolete equipment to be replaced or even effectively modernised. The programmes tha...

Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)

Good to hear, I am curious about why the (quite) drastic change and how they can afford the extra airframes.

Gives me hope that we'll change our minds about only getting 48 ;)

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I just had the (wrong) impression that they were going to play it safe - get well clear in case it turned, then return to help out our cousins where ever it was needed.

Re: Boeing E-3D Sentry AEW.1 (AWACS) (RAF)

Wouldn't it be easier (and cheaper) to just add a boom to E7 than to get all the electrical bits and throw them at an A330 and see what works?

When was the last time we didn't help out those in need? Even the ones we don't really like!?!

Anyway, it'll be another good test of QE and her crew if help is needed.

If needed could ASRAAM/AIM-9 be modified to ejector launch? Or would a complete new design be easier?

I did mean aircraft (thought mentioning Cessna would be enough), but what I think I'm saying and what I actually say don't always come across the same

I've always like Centurion (for this type of aircraft), can't remember it ever being used for anything other than a Cessna though...

Um. Boeing make the plane. It's not an Australian product. So there's nothing to offset there.

No local content at all? Have to say I'm a bit surprised at that.

Still, let us win the ashes a few times in a row and we'll be good
