Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Pit stop or issues? I appreciate you might not be able to say mate. As far as I know this is the 2nd scheduled stop off at Invergordon, hopefully my lad will make it to the right coach with his mates after the run ashore and not need the intervention of the local fuzz to help them find the right on...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I see the RN has posted the following, stating that PWLS is heavier. Wasn't this just for float out due to being more complete, or because of the RM mods, I honestly cannot remember! Any word from 'E' recently, or is he on one of them? https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/news-and-latest-activity/news/2019/...

Now I am confused at 5.30 you can clearly see there are three F35B
I'm pretty sure that 4 were involved in the initial landings, I think there was a twitter update confirming this.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Is the entire flight deck covered with the higher thermal limit coating or is it just the landing spots? The special thermal coating was only applied to the sections of the deck set aside for landing spots, it would have been too expensive to do the entire area and probably not worth the dent in th...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Looks like a new speed record from PoW. 28.2 knots. Like QE I think this is the fastest, or near fastest, that we'll see on AIS, any faster and they'll turn it off. https://twitter.com/TheBrit96/status/1183263702243565570 In other news RFA Tideforce is still alongside in Mayport. No idea where Nort...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

When will the trials of F35s on the Prince of Wales start, will she undergo two sets of trials as the Queen Elizabeth has and, if so, will both sets of trials happen in the US? Not sure to be honest. This is the only timeline I can remember seeing but it is from 2017 and out of date, the commisioni...

Well PWLS hit 27.3 kts on the 28th according to MarineTraffic. (think this got lost amidst the removed debate!)

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

PoW left Kirkcaldy at midnight for the North Sea. She was doing 17.2 kts before going off AIS east of the Isle of May at 02:54 BST (01:54 UTC/GMT). Hmm, think I need to speak to my nipper when he is up. According to MarineTraffic PWLS was doing 18kts at 03:38 and then went quiet until 07:03 when sh...

Not the crew, at least not the ones my nipper has contact with. It's on the DM title and they are one of the media sources that keep calling QE 'Big Lizzie'

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

https://t.co/3Ua1pqXdYD Apologies for linking to such a rag as the Daily Mail here. Apparently she's not fully finished on the inside though. Lots of complaining according to the Mail. A little towing tug is positioning itself towards the bow of PWLS, perhaps this one is going to do it all on her own!
