Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I used to work the line on Hawks, Tucanos and Jags back in the day. And i have been struggling as to how it is even possible not to notice the blanks have been left in?. I remember for example we used to accompany the aircrew on the walk around and we would remove the blanks in their presence, I par...

Think USMC /navy Will be taking close watch how hmsqe preforms next year to asses the small carrier concept as being reported in navylookout today,I don't mean they would want a qe class not their cup of tea at all but how the concept will workout and possibly take some pointers from the qe design ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

The GROUPEX for Exercise Joint Warrior has been confirmed: HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Kent, HMS Diamond, HMS Northumberland, RFA Tideforce, RFA Fort Victoria, HNLMS Evertsen, USS The Sullivans and I'm guessing "HMS :shh:" in QE's Tweet refers to a RN sub too. Should be a sight to behold. Yo...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Ok thanks for that, but that does not tell me were it will dock, likely i am a dumb git and just not seen it!. Ok lets try another way, where could a ship of that size actually dock in Liverpool? Most likely is it will dock at the Liverpool cruise terminal, close to the iconic Liver building. There...

I am looking at flights from Toulouse right now to visit Liverpool for that weekend. Anyone have any idea were she will be docked?

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]

An interesting article from the Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2019/07/22/digital-warship-inside-type-26-frigate-britain-selling-world/ An interesting article from the Telegraph: How is it possible Canada can build almost double (15) and Australia can build 1 more that the RN's pla...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Jesus that last picture really brings home to me at least, the actual size of of the QE when compared to the Black Duke, Black duke is just so tiny in comparison.

I mean not Eddies last picture but the one before that, he posted another as i wrote.

Re: BAE Hawk

Funny that i could not help but comment, was in Galatina last year October to December, 2016 for avionic support on the M-346. When I was there they had 7 airframes and 2 new ones arrived the day I left. I personally think the aircraft is just to complicated for effective use as a trainer aircraft a...

Oh ok so there is actually a capability gap, just what I said in my first post. But never mind only a 1 year gap, nothing could ever go wrong?

Re: Ocean Class Helicopter Carrier (LPH) (RN)

HMS Ocean replaced with PoW. No capability gap, but capability leap, in paper . In long term, RN has replaced four (3 Invincibles and 1 Ocean) 20000t light carriers with two 65000t CVFs. No, I do not like it, (as I am pushing for the "3rd flat top" for long), but, considering the budget s...

Re: Ocean Class Helicopter Carrier (LPH) (RN)

So HMS ocean is getting decommissioned. Well it can not actually be knackered as the Brazilian Navy wants to buy it, and i suspect if they do they will keep it in service for at least 10 to 20 years, that is what you call getting your monies worth. So why do we really get rid of it, just so we can e...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Amazing picture of QE in that task group and she looks just as big as the American carrier. But what really struck me was the difference in the greys used by both navies, the RN ships look positively white compared to the American ships. I wonder if anyone can tell us why there is such a big differe...

With the crazy spending plans where he has bribed the dopey with he offer of everything free, something will need to give. Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I really fear that these carriers are going to have a really really short Royal Navy service life if Corbyn and his merry band of appeasers get in.
