"According to UK MoD data the RAF has a current fleet of 59 Chinook HC5/HC6/HC6A helicopters, of which 39 were in service as at 1 April 2023."
So as of say 2028, how many will we have in the active fleet? Do these new ones replace old one?

Had Tarzan not got involved in 1985 we may still have a production line of Blackhawks we could have added to.

T32 is a great "Yes minister" project. Politicians can shout about it for a few years, then cancel it "without any cost" of redundancies as no physical work has started or materials ordered. Of course they ignore all the messing about and hidden costs by industry.

As they are looking to get 26, I would have thought it was worth re-engineering for MAX airframe as I believe most of the difference is the engines. They can then buy new airframes 737 NG based aircraft are still in production for the P-8 program. There are some modifications for the P8, but it’s e...

Just an idea. Build in UK. Refurbish in Aus? They could also Refurbish US boats at the same place.

Sorry, my bad, I think you are correct. But had we just had Blackhawks instead of 101 & Lynx (and now puma), would that have been a better option?

If "Tarzan" hadn't stirred it up we would have been making blackhawks at Yeovilton so we could replace like with like.

Re: Astute Class Attack Submarine (SSN) (RN)
how practical is is for Aus to build front and UK back (with nuclear bit) and put both bits together in UK. As it would be less work per sub in UK, more subs could be produced in same time frame.

Thought I read many moons ago that min number of Nimrods required was 12 but only 9 frames could be modified so that is how we ended with 9. I may be wrong.

It will be sold as the A330 is bigger than 767. So the will waffle something about different sizes for different roles.

Joined up thinking would have ordered 737 to replace 146'S not A321 giving common fleet. It strikes me as no planning and make it up as you go along.
