Re: FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (British Army)

Left hand side road wheels displaced / blown off. Left hand side de-tracked. Turret displaced with burning occurring around the turret ring - seemingly internally. Large amounts of black smoke coming from forward left hand side between driver position / ammo storage and track area. Engine not burnin...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)

Quick question(s) if I may - something I've been thinking over, but its got to the point where I actually need to know now ! I understand that Ares is designated as an APC and Warrior an IFV. Firstly what is the largest caliber RWS that could operate on an Ares in theory ? And secondly with that ca...

Re: British Army Future Wheeled APC

Purchasing Boxer would be so stupid that it isn't even funny. Most expensive candidate; fewer variants already fielded and thus ready to be replicated; it implies lining with money the pockets of the nation that is currently your biggest enemy due to Brexit; and to add insult to injury, after the U...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.

I think you're potentially reading a bit too literally there. Because the way it's worded could equally mean a modified T26 design not necessarily a brand new from the keel up design. Lot's of confusion really from all this. There seems to be a lot of ' analysts ' running around saying that despite...

Re: Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (Army)

My only hope is if we go Abrams, we get real Abrams, and not the downgraded export versions we've seen popping their lids all over the Middle East recently. I'm not entirely convinced the real version is much better in real world terms. Much upgrading was needed after Iraq when far too many US vers...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

After reading about the latest USS GRF issues and a call from the Pentagon to bring ' Shock Testing ' forward - http://gcaptain.com/u-s-navy-ordered-to-shock-test-worlds-costliest-ship/#.VcpkqflVhBe - I wondered what the UK equivalent might be and when it would be scheduled for the QE. I assumed it ...

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.

Is there possibly some belief that an asw version frigate is too noisy at high speed to be effective and as long as its the same speed as the carrier that's enough ,then possibly the g.p version would not need the acoustic propeller's and be fitted with a high speed one I hope not. All variants wil...

Re: Astute Class Attack Submarines

It's understandably hard to find anything on the Astute class's performance in real world conditions.

There have been a couple of soundbites from exercises, all positive, but I would be really interested if anyone could post or point to further examples of just how these boats fair.
