https://twitter.com/nauticalhistory/status/1447826488259137539?s=21 An interesting podcast on all aspects of operating an aircraft carrier. Just over an hour long but I found it well worth a lesson. Contributions from 3 RN flag officers and former carrier commanders including jerry Kydd. Hope it is ...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I’m guessing it’ll take place as the group departs next week down the Channel so as not to disrupt HMPWLS FOST Training too much, or even to be incorporated within it.Tempest414 wrote:Where is HMS POW right now will they get this long awaited for photo

Bloody crab air!!!! USMC all standing at ease, Brill -cream Boyz all lounging about. Hope they fly better than they look. Seriously, not a good advert. I hope the CPO applies a leather enema to those concerned (if that was the mob the Rasman would be fucking apoplectic even for us Ruperts). You mig...

Interesting article from USNI News care of a tweet from Gabriele Molinelli giving details on how the Marine squadron will operate on board and what they are hoping to learn.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Just a quick one friends ,has anybody heard when the next qe documentaries that have supposed to be filmed be airing ? Thanks in advance I’m pretty sure I’d read that Chris Terrill was hoping to be on board for her first full deployment in 2021. No idea if it’s happening but very much hope it is. W...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
he also confirmed that the calculation until then is 100% availability of one carrier at a time with 24 jets on it If correctly reported, does this not prevent the RAF from a land deployment of all or part of a squadron? Seems unlikely. But will the 24 be UK aircraft or should we assume a 50/50 spl...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Moving on from the political side of things. Is there any serious news on HMPWLS sailing soon? Also can anyone shed a light on whether or not it’s normal she wouldn’t be flying the White Ensign whilst alongside at the moment? I imagine it will be mid to late October when she sails but cannot confir...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
This is the caption to the MoD photos but the MoD press release says 14: Looks like they've been running 2 figures in the releases as it was supposed to be 15. Must have been a delay to one F-35B joining QE yesterday as it has now arrived. https://twitter.com/HMSQNLZ/status/1309180885854498818 Good...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
It's true so far. A US LHD has had 13 F-35B onboard before, but F-35C is only in the trials phase onboard CVN's at the moment. The Truman I believe is doing some at the moment, but there won't be more than a couple. US CVN's will only get a second squadron onboard to hit 20 after 2030. From 2025 to...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I've seen claims this is the most fifth gens at sea on a single flight deck ever. Is this true? Certainly that’s what the official RN press release is stating. I can find reports of Tripoli and America loading 13 and 12 Dave Bs and they are cramped, but cannot find numbers for Dave C’s on the nucle...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
I believe the UK still has 18 F35s. That's 15 at Marham pooled between 617 and 207, and three test and development aircraft retained in the US. In addition the delivery of three has been delayed by C19 but should be completed before the end of the year. So, doable. Would be great to see 20 onboard....

That's interesting. Without doing a forensic exercise it looks like the most number of Harriers embarked by Hermes was 16 to 18. However in 1983 on Ocean Safari ( Her last Ex in RN Service ) she embarked 12 Sea Harriers + 10 GR3 and 10 Seaking This could be a similar over all number to what we see ...
