Re: Section Infantry Weapons

The Royal Marines have adopted not only another new rifle, but a new calibre as well, 6.5 Creedmoor.

Are you sure that's a Venom gun? The company hasn't claimed any firing from a Boxer as far as I know. The very recent trials were from a static mount. I don't recognize the vehicles number plate either.
Got it from ARRSE, they reckoned it was the Venom.

A variation of that turret has already been shown on an 8x8 and is also shown fitted on the boxer, albeit in mock-up form.

Does anyone know what radar the Italian Land Ceptor ER uses? Found this; " -- the Posto Comando Modulo di Ingaggio (Command Post Engagement Module, PCMI) equipped with the X-TAR 3D search radar for the army, and -- the Medium Advanced Air Defence System (MAADS) for the air force, which will op...

Don't rubber tracks have a weight limit though, the troop carrier version of ASCOD would be within it, but not Ajax.

Just reading on another forum that Ajax Scout has been cancelled, they're normally red hot with their news, but nothing official yet. Here's the tweet they got it from.

Re: Section infantry weapons

The new M4 CG weighs in at less than 7kg whereas NLAW is 12.5kg, a big difference. The Germans are carrying a panzerfaust (or bunkerfaust) which weighs in at 13.5kg. 7kg empty. 10kg loaded. More with some rounds. More if you want the fancy sights. More again if you are carrying the round(s) outside...

This is interesting, could be the way the USA military is going to go judging by how good it looks in a weapon made for 7.62mm.

It's always amazed me that the Barrett 240 LWS never got any major orders, an under 20lbs GPMG, no exotic metals involved so keeping the cost down, they've given up marketing it and sold the design rights on to Geissele Automatics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v15-2gitbEI https://www.thefirearmbl...

Re: Foxhound Protected Vehicle

Weird how they went for completely the wrong spec when a more powerful engine was right there, is there any way they can either uprate the current ones, or swap in more powerful engines that are exactly the same make and type? More to the point, I suppose, would they think it's worth it?

Re: Foxhound Protected Vehicle

Hawkei has exactly the same engine and can't weigh that much less. But I've read about how the people who use Foxhound don't like it that much. I thought Hawkei had a tad more power, caught a glance when I was trawling for Foxhound info. The brochure says 200kw, I have no idea how much that is in g...

Is it just me? That vehicle in the video showing off the new 130mm gun is a Challenger 2 LEP, yes? Seems like just about every article is naming it as a Leopard 2. https://www.defenseworld.net/news/27551/Rheinmetall_Reveals_Upgraded_Leopard_2_Tank_with_130mm_Turret https://www.armyrecognition.com/de...

The photo released with that video shows the turret having a lot more armour fitted along with the new 130mm gun, could this be one of the proposals for LEP?
