Does anybody know what the reason is that she cant be "stored up" so she does not have to return to her homeport so speedily? But then again they will be getting more harbor maneuvering practice  Offloading temporary personnel/equipment on board for shakedown checks only? (technician...

I take it from episode 3, SRVL is a tricky one. Or perhaps artistic licence from the director. Is it the case that SRVL can only be performed in calm seas/weather or were they playing it cautious? If anybody can throw some light on this, it would be good. I just hope it’s not a red hearing. I Just ...

So having underestimated the budget by about 100% to build them, we also underestimated the crew requirements by about 20%, I assume these crew numbers could be subject to revision after we actually test the ship in operationally relevant trials? Did they not take some POW crew with them as well so...

Should have declared it on New Year's Eve, or better still as a Christmas present. We need to show that we are aiming to get ahead of the programme at every opportunity, not just scraping through or behind it. Let us hope that the RAF never delay deployment to a Carrier by 10 days (or longer). You'...

They value the extra landing spot for helicopters on a flat deck more than the benefits of the ski jump to the small fixed wing force. The LHD/LHAs are landing ships first and foremost.

https://twitter.com/RoyalNavy/status/1004461556464279552 Great to see them here at last. Just a question about the landing. I see the fan doors are open and the thrust nozzle rotated so it's obviously performing that landing technique to be used on QE where they can return with more fuel and stores...

QE Total time: 2 years, 10 months, 19 days (1054 days) PoW Total time: 3 years, 3 months, 13 days (1200 days) Why was PoW longer in the dock? Presumably because they could. Leave her in there and have full access in the drydock for longer vs rushing out QE to make way for PoW and working on QE from...

As evidence to the above, the CAA G-INFO database lists Bristow as the registered owners for the S92/AW189 fleet currently in use (actually some of the AW189 aircraft are still listed as Leonardo as they haven't yet been delivered to Bristow). https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?catid...

I've been reliably informed that the paintwork under the waterline should be okay, therefore it is highly likely that QE may not go into No.1 dock on return to Rosyth, which makes sense because you need the naming ceremony to be in the dry dock area. So all possibilities are on the cards now. Might...

There is an awful lot of brownish patches on her deck that appear to be rust. That's a video of the demo they did at dsei 2015, boarding a French vessel, VN Partisan. A cheap OPV kitted out for aviation, boarding and other naval training activities, rather than using an expensive asset. Perhaps something the RN could look at. The French have it under a PFI (or their version ...

Where will the extra Typhoons be based? I am guessing Leeming might be the best option.
