Re: FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (British Army)

And for those who are interested, here’s a good thread on the findings of the investigation into the live fire exercise incident on the CR2 in 2017 at Castkemartin with the link to the official report below that

https://twitter.com/davidwilletts3/status/1129138329017114625?s=21 Didn’t expect to be reading this headline (no, not the one about Ulrika Jonsson  ), but apparently true and confirmed by the navy... Removed from post for the “misuse” of a RN Ford Galaxy, reading the article it does seem an ov...

Re: Type 31 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]

Is anyone else treating the whole “will be in service by 2023” line with a massive pinch of salt? Im half expecting them to run down the T23 numbers right down before we see T31 in service, or am I being cynical of this brilliantly run programme?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Can't remember, but are they using the opportunity to do further tests at sea? Are they out for a long period then dry dock at Rosyth, or is it a straight transit up there? Dry docking still planned for summer last I heard so I guess we’ll have to watch this space https://www.gov.uk/government/news...

Used the existing turret, gutted it, chopped bits off, added lots and went from there. No way would the budget allow a complete new build

https://twitter.com/alibunkallsky/status/1083375751481778177?s=21 I know there’s emphasis on COULD but can anyone see this happening this early - they’re at IOC yes, but does it not come across as them being eager to use them in this role just to show that we’ve got them rather than as an operationa...

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)

There's been chatter about the appointments of the next heads of the RAF & RN. Surprising choices as more senior names were overlooked and explained by saying Williamson wants younger guys with transformational mindsets. Just a passing thought but what if "transformational mindsets" i...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Personally I find it very strange that the most secretive western government by a country mile is the UK. So little is disclosed despite FOI tinsel. Amen to that. It was literally just the other day that I finally got an answer to an FOI request on the Type 31 that I’d made on MAY 5th 2017!! All of...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Spread Sheet Phil has just announced £1billion extra for defence with special mention towards cyber security and ASW.. Exactly what this translates to isn’t known, no doubt we’ll find out when the MDP is finally published. Although a billion pounds extra is somewhat of a win for Williamson, it is of...
