This happened to HMAFV Seal in Dover She ran into The dredger Admiral Day . It was a fault in the Z F gear box link .Causing her to go in the opposite direction than selected. The gearbox then would not disengage. It turned out to be a incorrect setting by the dockyard.

The round profile of the hawes holes is to provide a rounded edges so as not to chafe the morring lines. They also reduce the water surge when the bow moves down after the crest of a wave. When the ship is underway in heavy sea state.

I have recovered the life raft dropped by Shackleton. Nimrod and Hercules. With the withdrawal of the Hercules. The P8 would have to be the operation requirement. The recovery was done by a Air Support Craft. .

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

When Babcock built the air support craft. They built the hull. Stern frames to the bow. The frames were numbered from the stern to bow. This was opersite to naval practice that frame one was at the bow. If they are following that building practice i would expect it to be in the water later this year.

If the seats are fitted for the MK 41 on construction rather than type 45 gim they could be smart procurement Fitting the silos as part of a weapons insertion post delivery. As long as they don't repeat the 30 mm mounts on the carrier's. Smart procurement if the MOD can get refurbished silos ex usn.

I just wish that we could deploy more F35. With the present procurement numbers it's going to be like this for several years . But by the later part of this decade we should be able to have enough aircraft to properly equip the carriers.

In my humble opinion a lift of 1000 personnel for the navy would be possibility in the nexd decade. This would make the manning of the type 32s as they are commissioned. While the redeployed personnel would allow more ships to be crewed and active. This is feasible with proposed increase of defence ...

The newstern gun on Trent should be suploment The stern gun on Trent. Should be ogmented by two port and starboard as per the Amerzons that would at least give them a better chance should they get into a situation. The Leander increase in beam was from above the water line as it improved the sea state roll and pitching movement of the ship from testing on Hull forms at theTeddington tank. Actually beam increase would in effect mean a new Hull shape with a new testing requirement.

I have always thought the original number was for the production run. That we would purchase numbers late in the program to keep the carrier air wing operational as the flying hours removed early or high hours airframes. This would allow fixed wing carrier ops to continue without expensive refit of ...

It would be like history repeating it self. The original fishery protection Jurra was leased in 1975. Giving the navy a off shore patrol boat. Most likely the second type 23 is doing its primary task away from the multitude of screw and engine sounds . The R.F.A. will be refuelling and resupplying then returning to the group.

Even the E-2 was once considered capable of STOBAR ops, in the very early days of CVF. In the 1980s a lot of ramp test were carried out in the U.S. They were primary done for use of a ramp on damaged runways by the air force. There was work done for Hawkeye operations of the newly acquired carrier ...
