Re: Airlander Airship

Wouldn't this be better done by Airlander?x A Chinook could land almost the same amount vertically*. If Chinook could have parachute dropped aid off the ramp I would think that would be more accurate than a400m. But, I don't think chinook has the volume underslung or internally for aid drops. Chino...

Re: Airbus A400M Atlas (RAF)

An A400M airdropped over 10 tonnes of food supplies into Gaza on Monday, as part of international efforts to provide life-saving assistance to civilians. https://twitter.com/RoyalAirForce/status/1772583805062160747 Imagine how more effective that would be if Airlander had done it. Other than taking...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

Just flapping his arms in hope of a bigger work share. One line had me scratching my head: If participating nations just want a next-gen platform, he said, that “already exists — it is called F-35 and can be modified easily.” Italy has a final assembly line doesn't it? Can't think why he'd plug the...

Re: New Medium Helicopter [NMH] - (RAF & AAC)

The perfect all-rounder doesn’t currently exist. Which of the NMH contenders are: • As accomplished at ASuW as a Wildcat? • As accomplished at ASW as a Merlin? • As good a battlefield helo as a Blackhawk? It would need to be marinised with folding rotors, have excellent speed, perform well at altit...

ASRAAM is CAMM.
I was referring to the vehicle configuration rather than the missile, I should have made that clearer

Re: Ground Based Air Defence

Very true, but in a swarm scenario do you have enough of your more expensive (and bigger) missiles? Multiple guidance systems could be one option. Maybe the cheap Coyote based ASRAAM system could have the SNEB/HYDRA/CVR7 missiles too, leaving Sky Sabre to the bigger aircraft?

Quick thought, what about using laser guided SNEB's or HYDRA's for drone defence? Surely a better solution to using Land / Sea Ceptors?

I'm curious about the 8x8, what configuration would it be? 2 axles front, 2 axles back... Or did they just bolt on an extra axle, on the back of the extra axle on the Coyote

Re: New Medium Helicopter [NMH] - (RAF & AAC)

This has and always was separate to NMH, these FOST helicopters are owned by a contractor, like the aggressor aircraft we also have on contract. Completely unrelated to NMH. Yes, but with the MoD stating what aircraft they would prefer, there has to be a link in their thinking. At least, I hope som...
